The goal | Production, pathology and treatment of farm animals is aimed at upgrading theoretical knowledge and practical work, preparing students for a more efficient and direct incorporation of clinical practice. Students should be trained for independent work in clinical pathology and treatment of farm animals (poultry, pigs and cattle), through mandatory theoretical and practical lessons on basic studies, the practical training of electoral subjects, clinical practice and summer internship | |||
The outcome | Production, pathology and treatment of farm animals is compulsory electoral subject for which students choose according to their own choice upon enrollment in the seventh semester and attend classes, according to pre-established plan, until the end of the tenth semester. After completing this Module students take their final exams and defend their thesis before a commission consisting of professors from the compulsory subjects. Students should know: behavioral problems in farm animals in veterinary practice, zootechnical principles that can be applied to farm animals, a clinical nutrition of farm animals, pharmacotherapy, reproduction and diseases of farm animals. | |||

Contents of exercises | Practical training is taught at individual departments of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine involved in teaching, and also in teaching bases outside the Faculty (poultry, pigs and cattle farm) .TB1. Behavioral disorders in farm animals (15): Practical presentation and analysis of the causes of changes and behavioral disorders in farm animals, prevention and correction of changes and behavioral problems in farm animals. TB2. Management of veterinary practice (15): Application of financial management in the veterinary practice. TB3. Zoohygiene of farm animals (30): Demonstration of hygienic and technological and technical measures in farm conditions. TB4. Clinical nutrition of farm animals (30) Clinical nutrition poultry, pigs and ruminants - practical case studies. TB5. Diseases of poultry (30): practical case studies. | |||

Methods of teaching | Classes will be organized at the Faculty Departments, through a series of coherent thematic blocks (TB) organized through several week duration. Theoretical teaching is based on intensive use of illustrated and interactive materials as well as archived medical records of University Clinics. Practical lessons are held at Clinics with special emphasis on the direct involvement of students in all aspects of the current clinical work, under the supervision and guidance of the teacher. | |||
