    The goal The acquisition of practical skills in surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology necessary for independent solving simple surgical problems in conditions of normal clinical practice.
    The outcome The student should know the basic principles of surgical treatment of the animals and be able to do the most important procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of surgical, orthopedic and ophthalmic problems in horses, dogs and cats.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures A short course in general surgery and soft tissue surgery, with special emphasis on the preparation of the patient for surgery, operative techniques and suturing wounds (6). Basic principles of treatment of wounds (4). Abdominal surgery: laparotomy, resection of the stomach and intestines, ovariohysterectomy, splenoctomy and other operations on the abdomen (6). A short course in orthopedics for small animals and horses (4). The basic principles of taking care for major diseases of the musculoskeletal system in horses (2). The basic principles of care for the major diseases of the musculoskeletal system in dogs and cats (2). Diagnosis of diseases of the eye (2). The basic principles of conservative and surgical treatment of eye diseases in dogs, cats and horses (4).
    Contents of exercises Practical work at the Clinic for surgery: treatment of clinical cases and practicing clinical procedures in diagnostics and treatment of surgical, orthopedic and ophthalmic diseases, with interactive learning on examples of various diseases in horses, dogs and cats (60).
