The goal Acquirement of knowledge of biological cycle of parasite development, morphological and morphometrical characteristics important for identification of parasites (taxonomy status), application of adequate methods for sampling, isolation and identification of adult parasites and/or development stages of parasites.
The outcome Student should possess knowledge of morphological and morphometrical characteristics of parasites and biological cycle of parasite development, know how to sample material for laboratory examination, prepare and make microscopic slides and macroscopic preparations, identify adult parasites and/or development stages of parasites and conduct laboratory protocols.
    Contents
Contents of lectures Parasitism, morphological and biological characteristics of parasites, nomenclature and taxonomy, transmission, reproduction of parasites, nutrition of parasites and products of their metabolism, relationship between parasite and host, host's response to presence of parasites, importance of parasites in epizootiology, epidemiology and ecology (4): Arhtropoda (18); Protozoa (14); Helminthes (24).
Contents of exercises Practice includes microscopic and macroscopic observation of developmental stages of arthropods (10), protozoa (6) and helminths (14) and interactive work in laboratory that includes learning of basic parasitological techniques - use of appropriate methods of sampling, isolation and identification of parasites and methods of making museum preparations and microscopic slides.
