    The goal Introduction to characteristics of the breeding, rearing and care of cat and dog.
    The outcome Student has to learn the basic principles of breeding management, rearing and care for dogs and cats, and also to be enabled to apply handling and restraining techniques, feeding and grooming, nursing of sick animals and puppies and kittens, have necessary knowledge of veterinary legislation which regulates animal keeping, transportation and health care.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Biological characteristics of dogs and cats, breeds and selection of purebred dogs and cats. Sexual cycle, mating, care during pregnancy, parturition and care for newborn puppies and kittens. Inherited behavior, behavioral faults and vice in dogs and cats. Principles of dog and cat keeping and feeding. Health care and nursing of diseased dogs and cats. Legislation that regulates dog and cat keeping and transportation. Management of keeping and healthcare in dogs and cats.
    Contents of exercises Training in practical skills necessary for dog and cat handling in kennels and catteries, small animal pansions and hospitals, feeding, grooming and care for healthy and diseased animals, supplemental feeding of newborns (30).
