The goal The systematization of hematological, biochemical, endocrinological, cytological and histopathological changes that occur in the course of various diseases in order to establish the correct diagnosis of the disease.
The outcome Students are expected to know the most important diseases of all organ systems, to understand the reaction of the organism to the noxious stimuli, to know the mechanisms and signs of diseases, to be able to connect biochemistry, hematology and endocrinology findings as well as cytological and histological findings with disorders of individual organ systems .
Contents
Contents of lectures Methodology of laboratory work, analysis of anemia, polycythemia, leucogram, disorders of hemostasis. Blood transfusions and blood products. Neoplasia of the hematopoietic system. Disorders of plasma proteins, lipoproteins and glycaemia. Evaluation of pleural and peritoneal fluids, synovial fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, nasal and tracheal lavage, urine sediment. Artifacts of laboratory analysis of blood and urine. Clinical enzymology . Analysis of hematological and biochemical changes in the blood and body fluids during metabolic disorders, urinary, digestive and musculoskeletal disorders. Disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism. Metabolic profile of ruminants. Principles of cytological specimen evaluation. Diagnostics of spongiform encephalopathies .
Contents of exercises Complete blood count. Partial tromboplastin time and prothrombin time. Biochemical analysis of serum and plasma. Electrophoresis of serum proteins. Analysis of urine and feces, the analysis of body fluids. Analysis of hormonal status. Processing of tissue, cutting and staining of tissue. Immunohistochemistry. Cytology. Clinical cases.
